Production Company Has Part of Its Catalogue On The On Demand Service
It is our pleasure to announce that the partnership between Sincronia Filmes and Box Brazil TV – independent content channel based in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and dedicated to screening exclusively Brazilian productions and which has already screened the music videos of singer/songwriter Elzo Henschell – bore fruits, and some of the best ones: about to open the streaming service, the Box Brazil Play, they have made a deal with the American company Media Mundus, a digital aggregator of channels and audiovisual services, that unites studios, production companies of all sizes, and independent distributors in general, to screen what these content creators have in their catalogue. “In our case”, explains producer Janaina Zambotti, “they’ve chosen a part of our cinema catalogue – the short It’s Almost True (2014), the feature documentary The Social Technology (2018) – and the webseries The Criers (2012), works that will have a new life of their own to be seen, seen again, or even discovered for the very first time. All of them are in restored copies or have been remastered by us, in a rework that took us most of the beginning of 2021″, continues Janaina, who supervised the whole process with senior editor and QC director Alberto Ismael, and the owner and director of Sincronia Filmes, filmmaker Emanuel Mendes. “Unfortunately we couldn’t get a copy of Living Statues (2013) and The Man Who… (2011) , which were made in co-production, and we couldn’t upload, at least not in the meantime, the first two shorts by Emanuel, Assis & Aletéia (2002) and Amarar (2008), which were shot in film and are in dare need of a more expensive and arduous restoration”, says the producer.
Created in 2011, Box Brazil is the largest independent programmer in Brazil, and the only independent multichannel. The target of the company is to screen high quality Brazilian content. In a volatile and extremely competitive market it is notable that such an enterprise as Box Brazil – which congregates five channels in its portfolio, four of them for the national market – has steady itself with this objective without relinquishing of its main essence. Distributed by the principal operators in Brazil, among them Claro, Vivo, SKY, Oi, Algar and Sim TV, Box Brazil reaches an audience of more than 16 million homes throughout the nation. “For us”, continues Janaina, “it’s a one of a lifetime opportunity not only to give a new life to the films/series, taking them to a broader and diversified audience, but it can also open some doors for other partnerships”, she emphasizes.
Sincronia has decided on some of the modalities among the seven ones offered by the channel and by Media Mundus – opting for the more known On Demand services: TVOD (TV On Demand); SVOD (Subscription of Video On Demand), among others.
